Developing A Good Oral Care Routine

With the right oral care routine, your teeth can last a lifetime. Oral health is important not just for your teeth and gums, but also for your heart. In fact, tooth decay can actually increase your risk of heart attack or stroke.

Dr. Ricardo Rios is your dentist here at Middle Hope Family Dental, in Marlboro, MA. He specializes in family dentistry and can help you develop a fantastic oral care routine.

It’s All in Your Smile

If you neglect your oral health by not brushing and flossing, by not getting tooth decay treated, and by allowing gum disease to progress, you risk losing your teeth. This will affect the way you eat, speak, and look in general. All of these issues are a concern for Dr. Rios, which is why he encourages his Marlboro patients to take care of their smiles every single day.

Do Right by Your Teeth and Gums

It’s as simple as 1, 2, 3: brush, floss, rinse.

  • Brush twice each day with a soft-bristled toothbrush. Use small, round circular movements on each surface of each tooth and spend about two minutes on each brushing session.
  • Floss at least once each day after brushing to remove trapped food particles from the teeth. Young children may find it easier to use a water flosser.
  • Rinse with an ADA-approved mouthwash after each brushing to eliminate any remaining bacteria in the mouth.

Visit Your Dentist

Your whole family should visit a family dentistry specialist at least twice a year for a full dental-check-up, scaling/polishing, and any necessary follow-up treatment. This is an important part of your oral care routine and helps reduce you and your family’s risk of tooth decay, gum disease, and tooth loss.

If you live in Marlboro and you need family dentistry services, call Dr. Rios today at (845) 565-4150 to schedule a consultation.
